Fall into Art: Flower Arranging & Painting Class at Native Poppy

that early fall light pouring into my studio

The shift of summer into fall is one of my favorite times of year. For many, it’s a season of grieving the energy of summer—the long days, bright light, and warm seas. But I’ve always leaned into this change. As someone with extroverted energy but an introverted heart, preparing for the cocooning seasons brings my nervous system peace. In that quiet, my art practice becomes slower, more ritualistic, and intentional. Autumn seems made for art making.

Yes, fall is aligned with the literal and symbolic “harvest”—the gathering of what was sown during the growing months. Many think of creating as the growing phase, but for me it begins earlier, with inspiration. In the lighter months we are flooded with beauty and play. The sun reveals more of the world to us, and in that brightness we collect sparks of inspiration. Come fall, the harvest is the arranging of all that we’ve gathered—transforming it into something new. Creativity becomes the fruit of experience, ready to be enjoyed fully.

So for me, fall = art making in her highest form.

If this resonates with you, join me at Native Poppy on October 12 for an evening of flowers and paint. We’ll create a table arrangement together, then translate your bouquet onto paper. You’ll leave with two works of art—your own creative harvest.

And if you’re wondering what the experience is like, here’s what a past participant shared:

“I had such an amazing time! Michaela was so kind and patient and has really unlocked the possibility of making watercolor painting a fun hobby. Will definitely consider taking another class with her!”

Are you ready to gather your own creative harvest? Reserve your spot today and join us at Native Poppy on October 12.
