Maybe it's the holiday spirit, or perhaps it just didn't feel right highlighting a city with a long history of sustainability and charity without doing the same; but I felt it necessary to donate a portion of the proceeds from my Golden Gate Bridge paintings to a non-profit organization. I spent days researching groups that I felt related to my work, but also focused on issues I hold near and dear. Eventually I stumbled on the Pacific Institute and they were the perfect fit!
Not only does the Pacific Institute focus on responsible water policy, global warming and ocean health, but they are located in the Bay Area. As an added bonus they employ several UC Berkeley alums and faculty, so it was basically a match made in heaven. Please take the time to check out their website and if you're considering art for Christmas, I hope this little bit of good makes your potential purchase that much sweeter.
